In Memoriam: Terry Noonan 1961 – 1968

Terry Noonan B.Sc., C. Eng., M.I.C.E. passed away suddenly on 3rd August 2017.

He was a pupil at Dynevor School 1961-68 and he was President of the ODA in 2003.

As a Chartered Engineer, Terry enjoyed a prestigious professional career, which saw his expertise employed on such high profile engineering projects as the Millenium, Liberty and Wembley Stadia; the Wales National Pool in Swansea; and other projects including Swansea University Halls of Residence, the Tawe Barrage and Swansea’s Grand Theatre redevelopment.  He held senior positions at W S Atkins, Faber Maunsell and his own firm, TM Noonan Consulting; and in 2013 he was appointed Associate Professor, Engineering at Swansea University.

During his school years Terry collected several sporting honours, playing in the Swansea Schools Cricket Team and the Swansea Schoolboys Football team; although he later switched to Rugby and played in the Dynevor First XV.  In “The Old Dy’vorian” No. 10 published in March 2007, Terry wrote an article (on pages 4-7) about the glory days of the Swansea Schoolboys Football Team that he played in.  Clearly, they really did achieve great things.
