Sponsored ‘Walk For Life’
The Geography curriculum in Year 8 considered the contrasts in ‘health care’ between rich, developed countries and the poorer developing ones for example comparing the number of patients looked after by one doctor, the number of mothers dying in childbirth and mortality rates in the first year of life. With help from Ann Barnes’ husband Ray, who had been involved in training sessions at the Radiology Department at Singleton Hospital, a visit by a group of Year 8 pupils was arranged to look at the high-tech developments being used.
The sponsored ‘Walk For Life’ from Dynevor to the hospital along the prom raised £200 for ActionAid’s immunisation programme for children and pregnant women in Uganda.
