1883 | The opening of the Higher Grade School in Trinity Place. |
1883 | Mr. Gomer Jones is appointed as Headmaster (one term only). |
1884 | Mr. Samuel Roberts is appointed as Headmaster (26 years 1884-1910). |
1894 | The school moves to Dynevor Place. |
1907 | Municipal Secondary school status granted. |
1911 | Mr. W. A. Beanland is appointed as Headmaster (18 years 1911-1929). |
1929 | The premises are expanded in both Dynevor Place and De la Beche St. |
1929 | Mr. Llewelyn John is appointed as Headmaster (13 years 1929-1942). |
1930 | The school's name is changed to Dynevor School & the Old Dy'vorian Association is formed. |
1941 | The premises are seriously damaged during 3-day blitz of Swansea. |
1942 | Mr. W. Bryn Thomas is appointed as Headmaster. (10 years 1942-1952). |
1944 | The school's name is changed to Dynevor Secondary Grammar School. |
1952 | Mr. Glan Powell is appointed as Headmaster (5 years 1952-1957). |
1957 | Mr. Meredydd G. Hughes is appointed as Headmaster (8 years 1957-1965). |
1957 | Mr. George Hounsell becomes Hon. Secretary of Old Dy'vorians (40 years 1957-1997). |
1958 | Mr. D. Iorwerth Mort becomes Hon. Treasurer of Old Dy'vorians (39 years 1958-1997). |
1958 | 75th Anniversary Magazine published. |
1965 | Mr. D. Bernard Norris is appointed as Headmaster (13 years 1965-1978). |
1971 | The school becomes Dynevor Senior Comprehensive School. |
1978 | The amalgamation with Llwyn-y-Bryn Girls' School. |
1979 | Mr. W. D. Hubert Davies is appointed as Headmaster (7 years 1979-1986). |
1983 | Centenary Magazine published. |
1985 | The school loses its Sixth Form to Swansea Tertiary College. |
1986 | Mr. Allan Smith is appointed as Headmaster (15 years 1986-2001). |
2001 | Dynevor School ceases to exist. |
2002 | 24th July - The final farewell from former pupils and staff as Dynevor School closes. |
2002 | The Old Dy'vorian" bi-annual Journal is first published, edited by David Farmer (Class of '44). |
2004 | 15th March - The Old Dy'vorians' Website is launched by Dave Tovey (Class of '52). |
2004 | 16th March - The 'New Dynevor' project is announced by Prof. David Warner, Principal and Chief Executive of the Swansea Institute. |
2005 | Introduction of annual President’s Education Awards for UWTSD students who overcome significant obstacles in pursuing their studies. |
2006 | 29th July - Dynevor School was reopened as the Dynevor Centre for Art, Design and Media faculties of the Swansea Metropolitan University by one of our most famous alumni, Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury. |
2007 | 19th March - The Unveiling of the Goldstone Window at new Dynevor Campus. |
2009 | 8th May - Central Tower and six key areas within the Dynevor Campus named after Dr. Rowan Williams and the former Dynevor House Names with a commemorative plaque unveiled. |
2011 | 25th March - First O.D.A. Annual Golf Tournament, at Clyne Golf Course. |
2011 | The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams became President of the ODA and spoke to a record attendance of 354 guests at the Annual Dinner. |
2012 | Inaugural Annual ‘Dynevor Balconiers Day’ at St.Helen’s. |
2014 | Introduction of the Peter Saword Memorial Trophy for the ODA Annual Golf Day competition. |
2015 | Publication, supported by the Association, of ‘Among Some Swansea Schoolboys 1914-19’ by Tudor Price (ISBN 9 780957 417847), a tribute to former pupils lost in WW1. |
2016 | Rededication of School War Memorial to reflect addition of two further losses identified in each World War, followed by a final addition in 2018. |
2017 | Publication of ‘Dynevor its name and building history’ by Roger L. Brown. |
2017 | London and S.E members’ liaison group lunch at House of Commons sponsored by Julian Lewis MP and attended by guests the Lord Anderson and Speaker John Bercow MP. |
2017 | Publication, supported by the Association, of ‘Among Some Swansea Schoolboys 1939-45’ by Tudor Price. |
2019 | First ODA Rock Night held at The Hyst, Swansea on 11th October |
