ODA Events 2025
24th Apr – The AGM will be held in Dynevor Lecture Theatre 1 commencing at 3.15pm, relevant documents will be posted on our website nearer the date.
9th May – ODA Annual Dinner – Bookings are now being accepted for the Dinner. This long-established event is generally regarded as the most important in the ODA calendar and members are urged to book their places as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment. Jeff Vaughan, in collaboration with The Village Hotel, has worked extremely hard to keep the cost of the dinner down to £34. A discount is available for those who wish to stay overnight at the hotel. When booking accommodation on the hotel website, please use the discount code PRO10A. Breaking News! Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to announce that Caroline Sheen is no longer able to be our guest speaker at the Annual Dinner. Caroline has been asked to attend The National Theatre on the same day and reluctantly had to cancel. She wishes us all the best for a successful evening. In her place we have been fortunate to secure the services of one of Wales’ leading television and film personalities, Steve Speirs, whose television credits include The Tuckers, which he wrote and starred in, Stella, We are Seven, Doctors and The Bill. His films include Pirates of The Caribbean, Star Wars (Episode 1), The Musketeer, and Cemetery Junction.
It is not too late to make a booking should you wish to do so. There are still places available and the link to the booking form is below.

16th May – The UWTSD Summer Degree Show takes place at Dynevor, 6.00pm onwards. The ODA President’s Award will be made to students during the evening.
June/July – A Golf Day unfortunately will not be planned this year as there is sufficient interest.

When parking for ODA activities is permitted at Dynevor be sure to follow the University’s parking policy by registering your vehicle using the QR code displayed near the reception desk. Assistance will be given by committee members, if required. Please note: failure to follow instructions will, unfortunately, lead to a parking fine.

Past Events
12th Mar – The ODA Annual Lecture was delivered at Dynevor by Hywel Davies on: Writing ‘The Last Invasion of Britain: Fishguard 1797’. The lecture PowerPoint, with Hywel’s summary of notes, can be viewed here. Thanks are further extended to Hywel for expediting this after it was realised the lecture had been recorded without sound.
22nd Feb – A Coffee Morning was held at Dynevor Café
